teamMADE Monthly Newsletter – May 2023
teamMADE is excited to announce that the team is participating in the 2023 Stella Zhang New Venture Competition. They have entered their modular dwelling unit in the Consumer Services Competition Track and have advanced to the semi–finals of the competition. As semi–finalists, their Business and Scaling Team will be pitching their product on May 12th, 2023. This is exciting because they will gain experience and insight for pitching at the Orange County Sustainability Decathlon later this year.
Led by Kai Meyers, Byren Cheema, Clare Wu, and Saher Noor, teamMADE is hoping to make it towards the next round or the finals where the cash prizes and AWS credits will be used to help finance teamMADE’s endeavors. The team has spent countless hours conducting market research, gaining endorsements, and addressing potential questions. They have been able to collaborate with an investor from Sunstone Management and hope this is only the beginning. The team is super excited for the upcoming weeks and ready to make the most of the opportunity to take teamMADE to new levels.
Participating in the Stella Zhang New Venture Competition will give teamMADE an opportunity to present their project to a panel of judges composed of venture capitalists, industry experts, and entrepreneurs in diverse industries. The judges will evaluate the feasibility of the project, the potential market size, and the strength of the team.
This is not only a significant milestone, but a unique opportunity for teamMADE to showcase their innovative product, network with industry experts, and be inspired by other entrepreneurs. The competition provides unique networking opportunities and connections that can be instrumental in helping teamMade secure funding and gain awareness. There is also the chance to receive resources they need to turn their ideas into a successful business.
The first and second-place teams in each track during the Semi-Finals round will receive a cash prize and be able to advance in the Grand Finale, a live Shark-Tank-inspired pitch where teams will be able to compete for $20,000. All finalists will receive AWS (Amazon Web Services) credit to launch and develop their websites.
